MRI Center
The Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center has onsite
access to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This
state-of-the-art unit allows us to provide MRI services to our
patients in an easy and expedient fashion without the hassles of
scheduling and traveling to outside facilities or
hospitals. Our MRI is currently fully functional with
appointments available quickly for patients who need urgent
evaluation.
The Artoscan™ is a new generation
scanner that offers short, fast, efficient, quality scanning and
minimizes claustrophobia. This unit is specifically for
in-office musculoskeletal imaging and the patient remains
outside of the machine at all times.
Before Your MRI
If needed, your MRI is usually scheduled during
your office checkout. The receptionist will ask you
several important questions such as:
Insurance and Preauthorization
Various insurance companies require prior
authorization before the MRI can be performed. Please make
certain that your insurance information is up-to-date to avoid
delays. Our receptionist will verify insurance coverage
for the MRI. Our MRI center does not interpret the MRI
studies; this is done by a group of qualified radiologist and is
the responsibility of Columbus Radiology Corp. We will be
happy to help you if you have any questions or concerns.
Preparation for your MRI
There are no restrictions in your use of
medications or your diet prior to the MRI. We suggest that
you wear comfortable clothing as you will be required to be
still for an extended period. You will be asked to remove
all jewelry and other accessories before your scan.
The MRI Exam
We ask that you arrive to OFA 15 minutes before
your exam. Please check in with the front desk
receptionist in the main waiting area. The MRI exam will
last from 30-60 minutes. It consists of a series of scans
requiring you to lay very still as the magnet is sensitive to
motion. We hope to make your experience very comfortable and
pleasant. Please let us know how we can best meet your
personal needs during this examination. |
