This past month at the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) Annual Meeting, Dr. Terrence Philbin concluded his term as the 2019-2020 AOAO President. As the 76th President of AOAO, Philbin led the Academy through a challenging year while maintaining the organization’s mission of providing exceptional education and development opportunities for osteopathic orthopedic surgeons. One of the highlights of his tenure was the implementation of the new single Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accreditation system. In addition, Philbin and the AOAO leadership transitioned all Academy business, educational events and meetings from in-person to virtual and provided support to the membership during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Patrick Bull, an active member of AOAO was awarded with the 2020 Appreciation Award. Since 1955 an Appreciative Award has been presented annually to a member of the profession who has made an outstanding contribution preferably related to Orthopedics.
